Tune-in tonight to American Idol at 8pm ET on FOX, available through Comcast Cable!

The four remaining American Idol contestants make their latest case tonight beginning at 8:00 PM EST on the Fox Network, and as if none of them were aware, the margin for error is hair-thin. Following last week’s elimination of Janelle Arthur, there is nowhere to hide for Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb and Angie Miller.

This week’s theme is one which has been one of the more popular in recent seasons, songs designated as “One-Hit Wonders.” The program’s other segment will be a “Singer’s Choice” category, in which each contestant performs a tune of their own choosing.

Ms. Glover’s “One-Hit Wonder” choice is risky, although her multi-range vocals should impress. Her second rendition should be more in her wheelhouse, but one has to wonder if she’s relying on the “Big” vocal numbers excessively.

Kree Harrison’s song choices, as always, are interesting. For the “One-Hit Wonder” segment, she’ll perform the late-1960s rock classic “A Whiter Shade of Pale” by Procol Harum, which, given her frequently haunting, heartfelt style, could be a “magic moment.” Her personal song choice will be “It Hurt So Bad” by Susan Tedeschi.

Amber Holcomb’s personal song choice, “Power of Love” by Celine Dion, is no doubt a familiar and powerful song, but it’s been done …. and done …. and done. She’ll need to knock it out of the proverbial park to win over voters. For her “One-Hit Wonder” number, she’ll perform “MacArthur Park,” originally done by Richard Harris and re-done by the late disco queen, Donna Summer. The betting is leaning towards her rendition more closely resembling the latter instead of the former.

Angie Miller obviously knows a winning formula when she sees it, and with her personal choice, she’ll be doing a Jessie J song, “Who Are You?” She will tackle the cabaret classic “Cry Me a River” by Julie London for her “One-Hit Wonder” performance, and will no doubt be seated at her piano.

Tonight’s program also features two duets, Kree and Amber (which should be an interesting pairing) doing Adele’s “Rumor Has It,” while Angie and Candice team up for Rihanna’s “Stay.” Both performances should be revealing in how the participants work together, especially Kree and Amber with their differing approaches.

Regardless of tonight’s performances, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if on Thursday night’s results program, the judge’s utilize the “Save,” since as already stated, each of these contestants certainly have what it takes to be the next American Idol.
